SYMPOSIUM IN THE FIELD REGISTRATION FESTIVAL PROGRAMME

Walk to a Place of Strength is an artistic proposal that explores walking as a political-somatic practice, engaging the body in relation to territory, ecosystem and collective presence. At its core, it offers a space for public encounter – a temporary community.

The project unfolds through a practice structured around three fundamental actions: breathing, walking and being still. These gestures are approached as “choreopolitical” agents – movements that carry political and poetic force, shaping awareness of the self in connection to place. Beyond their habitual function, these actions open a space for deep reflection, inviting participants to inhabit their bodies differently and to listen more closely to the landscapes they move through. In doing so, Walk to a Place of Strength becomes a practice of presence, of reorienting perception, and of reclaiming the act of moving – together – as an aesthetic and political gesture.

Sara Anjo works in the dance field as a dancer, experimenting with scores and choreographic compositions. She works in relation to outdoors, landscapes and natural environments, asking: what moves us? Where are we moving?
