Simon Macuh: Ice Planets
workshop for children 7+
Saturday, 26 Jan 2019 at 12.00pm
parallel event of opening exhibition Amper-o-mat, bepleep, OR poiesis, Boštjan Perovšek, Bojana Šaljič Podešva, Brane Zorman: ICEmeltings
Please come dressed in clothes that can be stain with colour and that are warm and comfortable. Workshop will take place outside if the conditions will permit this.
Besides the named planets, there are several others that don’t have names. We will discuss known planets and create unique planets from colourful ice balls together with the participants. Children will be able to try out different sculptural techniques of ice finishing (chiseling, melting, breaking, crushing, etc.), with which they will create unique planets under supervision of the workshop leader. Since planets are a part of the Universe, their image is far from stable, which we will experience through observing the disappearance of the created planets.
At the end of the workshop, we will submerge ice planets in hot water, where they will gradually melt, until they will disappear completely, while their different colours will tint the liquid and mix into a uniform shade.
This workshop is a good opportunity to reflect on the fate of our Blue Planet and human relationship towards it.
